On the allotment...

The weather was favourable over the weekend and I was able to spend a couple of hours on the allotment. There was a huge pile of well rotted manure to be collected and so I spread 8 barrow loads on ground I had weeded. The soil was perfect and I have been trying to dig as little as possible to avoid disturbing the work of the worms.

It’s amazing how many weeds and seedlings grow even in very cool temperatures, and the ones which don’t have deep tap roots have been sliced off the top, which takes a lot less time than digging the whole lot over.

I have been lucky enough to obtain another piece of ground to expand the flower space but of course it does need preparing! But luckily, I love the feel and smell of the soil, and the satisfaction of seeing the ground ready to take my precious seedlings!
